About A Day's Outing
A Day's Outing is a free online guide to find activities for day trips, local adventures and weekend getaways, based on your specific location and your personal interests. All you do is answer four simple questions and you are on your way. Just tell us where you are starting from, select the types of outings you are looking for, whether it is a farmers' market, a museum exhibit or wine festival, then determine the amount of time you have available to reach the outing itself, and finally, tell us the day you want to go. A Day's Outing reveals the undiscovered activities that surround you every day. Whether you are starting from your home, or are visiting an unknown city while on a business trip or vacation, A Day's Outing helps you find all of the great happenings that are just around the corner.
Why did we start A Day's Outing?
As mothers who schedule outings for our families and weekend getaways with our husbands, we wanted an online resource that easily brought together all the best events and unique destinations that we knew must be around us. While there are many newspaper, magazine and websites, they offer only bits and pieces of information about events and destinations, and they provide no way to search for activities based on location, interests and how far you want to travel. With our busy, hectic lives, we need to make the most of the time we have with our family and friends. We wanted one resource that brought all the events and destinations together and would map them for us.
So, A Day's Outing was born.
With A Day's Outing, we have strived to create an easy to use guide that helps people find wonderful outings that appeal to them. We made sure to include all of the types of activities that we love to do in our categories... Fairs, Events & Festivals, Family & Children, History & Heritage, Museums & Art, Nature & Outdoors, Parks & Gardens, Farms, Food & Wine, Unique Sports & Games, Theater & Stage, Antiques & Auctions and Wheelchair Accessible outings for our disabled travelers.
A Day's Outing is a great way to find out what is going on and to make the most of the amazing adventures that are just around the corner, no matter where you are. We hope you enjoy A Day's Outing as much as we do.

A Bit About Us
Elizabeth Muse
Elizabeth loves to explore and believes there are always new things to discover. From a backpacking trip to the Edinburgh Castle to snorkeling in St. John, from panda watching at the National Zoo in D.C. to a rickshaw ride through Times Square with her children on her lap, she believes there are interesting people to meet, amazing foods to taste and wonderful moments to share with her family.
Prior to co-founding A Day’s Outing, Elizabeth was a Managing Director at Ignite PR. Before that, she worked as a fundraiser and then Development Director for the Haight-Ashbury Free Clinics in San Francisco. Elizabeth is also the author of two books on gardening with babies and children. She received her B.A. from the University of Colorado, Boulder in Psychology, which has come in handy on a daily basis. She also volunteers her time on the Board of Directors for two nonprofit groups.
Cathy Jolly
Cathy travels continually with her family, whether they are day trips or across the pond. She has crisscrossed the U.S. visiting nearly every state and many countries with her two small children. She is a huge fan of our nation’s many parks and renting boats wherever her family travels to, from Jackson Lake at Grand Teton, to the Florida Keys, and down the canals of Europe. Any weekend that the weather is nice, you are sure not to find her family at home.
Prior to co-founding A Day's Outing, Cathy was with Ignite PR where she undertook a number of market visibility initiatives for clients in the Web 2.0 arena. Previously, Cathy worked in Silicon Valley within Hewlett Packard's highly successful Inkjet Business Unit. While there, she managed the worldwide distribution of Inkjet consumer products and then moved into IT management. Cathy earned a B.A. in English and Speech Communication from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She is an active community volunteer in a number of organizations, including Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville.
