Center in the Square

The Western Virginia Foundation for the Arts and Sciences is a nonprofit organization that owns and operates Center in the Square and provides a free home to its beneficiary organizations. Housed within the signature building of Center in the Square are five nonprofit cultural arts and science organizations: Art Museum of Western Virginia, Arts Council of the Blue Ridge, Science Museum of Western Virginia and Hopkins Planetarium, History Museum & Historical Society of Western Virginia, and Mill Mountain Theatre. Two additional nonprofit art organizations are supported in the same way but are housed off-site as their independent locations. Opera Roanoke and the Roanoke Ballet Theater.
